Greetings and Welcome

Li Jiang Secretary General of China Fish 2001
In the first spring of the 21st century, Beijing welcomes the 11th China International Fishing Tackle & Trade Exhibition.? If we take 10 years as one course, this is the beginning of the second course for China’s fishing tackle industry.

In the first 10-year course, pioneers of the China fishing tackle industry experienced an extremely hard and bitter struggle to overcome a series of hard-imagined difficulties, such as shortness of capital, backwardness in technology and lack of market competitive power.? Great achievements have been made in these ten years of effort.? Fishing tackle made in China is now seen everywhere in the world market, from rods and reels to fishing tackle accessories of various kinds and specifications.? Moreover, peoples’ image of Chinese products has changed.? What was at one time an image of cheapness and low quality is now a quite different image due to the better grades of the products now available.? As an example, in the fishing tackle market of the U.S.A., the cost of twenty high-quality and brand-name fishing reels made in China today can equal that of a popular domestic car!? We are impelled to say this is an epoch-making leap in China’s fishing tackle industry.

This year China will join the WTO.? A wider development space for China’s foreign trade in fishing tackle will result, which is already rising by a big margin.? In the new 2nd ten years, reforms in the system of fishing tackle enterprises of China will be become more suitable to the development of the market economy.? The pioneers of the old generations in the fishing tackle industry of China will gradually retire from the leading edge and will be replaced by a young intellectual generation with completely new and modern ideas. The current somewhat disordered market, especially the price system, will become more reasonable and much improved as it interacts in the international market. Electronic business will naturally merge into the fishing tackle market. The coming ten years will be a decade in which China’s fishing tackle industry will make remarkable progress.? In a historical and macro view, one time has ended and a new time has begun.

There are altogether 535 stands of international standard in this exhibition, distributed in A, B, C and D exhibiting areas. The exhibitors include almost all the important productive enterprises from China Mainland, South Korea, Japan, China Taiwan, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macao Special Administrative Region. Their products represent the present highest level in this area.? The number of the overseas traders in this exhibition is the biggest compared with all the previous sessions. This continued growth proves that the China Fish exhibition is gaining of more and more attention and support from businessmen from both home and abroad.? Without question, China Fish brings the exhibitors from the production enterprises and the traders from home and abroad together for a rare opportunity to meet and achieve success together.? As the organizer of this exhibition since 1989, I have worked for 12 years to develop this win-win opportunity.?

In this first spring of the new century, I’d like to, on behalf of all the staff members of the 11th China International Fishing Tackle & Trade Exhibition, the exhibitors from fishing tackle production enterprises of 15 provinces and cities of China Mainland and exhibitors from South Korea, Japan, Italy, China Taiwan, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macao Special Administrative Region, express our heartfelt thanks and warm welcome to the 400 traders from over 30 countries and regions all over the world.? I sincerely hope the exhibitors and traders at China Fish 2001 will the make the best of this opportunity and achieve the win-win goal of this exhibition. Welcome to China Fish ‘2001 !
